WHAT TARA STANDS FOR
Tara believes state government should make life a little easier for Wisconsin families and make sure communities like ours have a strong voice in Madison. In her first term, she has worked on the issues she heard about from people across the 96th District—and she knows there is still plenty left to do.
Making healthcare, childcare, and housing more affordable
Restoring workers’ rights and supporting family-sustaining jobs
Fully funding and supporting public education
Protecting reproductive freedom and personal rights
Protecting Wisconsin’s clean air, water and natural resources
Supporting family farms, small businesses, and rural communities
EDUCATION
-
Strong public schools build strong communities. Tara believes every student deserves a great education no matter where they live, and that Wisconsin needs to do more to support the teachers and staff who make that possible.
In Madison, Tara has supported increased investments in public education and special education. She will continue fighting for stronger state funding for our public schools, technical colleges, and universities, and for the resources needed to recruit and retain great educators.
-
Tara believes the people who educate our kids deserve respect, fair pay, and a voice in their workplace. She supports restoring collective bargaining rights and giving local schools the tools they need to attract and keep talented teachers and staff.
HEALTHCARE
-
No one should have to choose between getting the healthcare they need and paying their rent or mortgage. Tara has made expanding access to affordable healthcare a priority in the Legislature, including being the lead author of the BadgerCare Public Option bill.
She will continue working to lower healthcare costs, protect access to care in rural communities, and make sure people across western Wisconsin can get the care they need close to home.
-
Tara believes decisions about pregnancy and reproductive healthcare belong to patients, their families, and their doctors—not politicians in Madison.
She will continue defending reproductive freedom and access to reproductive healthcare for Wisconsinites.
AFFORDABILITY
-
Affordable, reliable childcare is essential for families and for our local economy. Tara will continue working to bring down costs for parents, support childcare providers, and make sure families can find care in the communities where they live.
-
Too many people across western Wisconsin are struggling to find housing they can afford. Tara supports efforts to expand housing supply, lower costs, and give local communities more tools to address their own housing needs.
-
From groceries and utilities to healthcare and childcare, families are paying more for the basics. Tara believes making Wisconsin more affordable should be at the center of the work in Madison, and she will keep looking for practical ways to help families keep more money in their pockets.
